I am so very trilled to have been awarded a Creative Ireland Bursary Award 2019. This will support a collaborative and participatory project entitled Making Marks with Markievicz. Sincere thanks to Kildare County Council Arts Service and Creative Ireland.
Making Marks with Markievicz
One of the aims of this project is to integrate different communities through art and culture, aligning with the Creative Ireland pillar ‘Enabling Creativity in Every Community’.

A new supply of art materials, ready and waiting.
The project will appeal to women who are interested in connecting and making new friendships. To those with a curiosity about creativity and an interest in the lives of others, in community and integration.
Expressions of interest are invited from adult females in Kildare to join Making Marks with Markievicz. A group of 13 participants will be drawn from different backgrounds, different social contexts and a variety of geographical areas of Kildare.
This group will meet once weekly from 4th October 2019, to explore a range of different artistic techniques. These hands-on workshop sessions will be facilitated by myself (Vera McEvoy) and will take place in Naas Community Library. The project will include invited guest speakers and visits to other locations.
Taking artist Countess Markievicz as a starting point, discussions will take place on what life may have been like for Irish female artists over the last 100 years. A selection of artworks made by female artists over that period, which are part of the Kildare Municipal Collection, will be viewed and discussed.

The wider general population of county Kildare will be invited to attend and to contribute during the public talks which will take place, increasing community and citizen engagement.
Join us as we will have lots of Fun while making and discussing art. No previous art experience needed. Free of charge. All art materials will be provided. Limited to group of 13 participants, so get in touch early.
It is hoped to arrange an exhibition of selected artworks for the Municipal Collection in January – date and venue to be scheduled.
