Note: participants for the Beginner Stage 2 workshop must have completed the Beginner Stage 1 course.
This short course builds on the Beginner Stage 1 workshop offering students more technical knowledge and glass cutting techniques for kiln formed glass. You will gain a deeper understanding of what happens within the kiln during the fusing process, the materials, techniques, and processes involved in cutting sheet glass and adding metal inclusions in your work.
During the first session, you will learn how to cut glass and how to use a variety of tools. There will be two suggested designs for you to choose from to cut and complete. You will have gained the confidence and understand of the cutting skills to design and develop your own pieces for week 2 and 3. Experimentation with metal inclusions to add and create a wide variety of effects in your glasswork will also take place in session 1.
Class location: Artist Studio, Celbridge, Co Kildare
Class duration: 2 hours per week x 3 weekly sessions. 6 hours in total.
Class size: 4 adult participants
Fee per person: €165 plus the cost of the glass used, which will be approximately €20
Weekend class: morning 10.30am – 12.30pm on 7th, 21st, 28th March 2020
What to bring: your wonderful self! Please wear closed toe shoes (no sandals) for safety reasons and bring reading glasses if you normally wear them.
