Sculpture in Context 2012 at the National Botanical Gardens, Dublin.
Vera Mc Evoy in collaboration with Cultúrbug have been selected to exhibit in the Sculpture in Context exhibition at the National Botanical Gardens, Dublin. The work will be on exhibition from the 6thSeptember to the 19th October 2012, during normal garden opening hours.
Cultúrbug as a group formed initially in collaboration with resident artist Vera Mc Evoy in advance of the opening of the Arthouse and Library Stradbally in April 2011.
The installation, entitled Loose Ends, is a cascade of white cotton strips falling from the large branches of a Pinaceae Cedar tree. This work was originally exhibited in a video installation as part of their year end show in the Arthouse in March 2012
Loose Ends explores freedom and behavior within environments of power, restraint and control.
This textile installation is positioned at No. 85? (will check this detail and confirm). Located just at the back of the Great Palm House.
Thanks to all who travelled to install the work and also to those who attended opening night, it was a wonderful glorious sunny September evening. A big thank you to the Sculpture in Context committee and to my artist colleagues, Isabelle and Ghenadie for their help and patience.
